I've been reading about coast to coast overflows and "Calfo" standpipe systems and was wondering if Glass-holes has ever considered creating/selling anything like these.
I was thinking a low profile coast to coast overflow that fed a Calfo box on the outside of the tank would be pretty cool. The coast to coast overflow would probably have to be siliconed to the tank, but a "V" shape might only have to be made out of one long piece of acrylic with two small peices at the ends (simplifying the manufacturing process). The "Calfo box" could be attached on the outside of the tank similar to the way the current glass-holes boxes hang on the inside (with the bulkhead) and have holes in the bottom for the triple standpipe system.
I know it has been written on this forum that "coast to coast and other methods of maximizing weir length" have "diminishing returns much bigger than the dart box" (
http://mikekirkman.com/forum/smf_1-1-3_install/index.php?topic=150.0), but what about smaller tanks (<100g) that dont have high return flow?
We may already know your thoughs on the coast to coast, but what about the "Calfo" standpipe system? If the coast to coast is out, could you modify an overflow to have the "Calfo" redundancy? Would you even want too?
The current GH overflows work great (I have a nano and 700), but I think the coast to coast overflow and "Calfo" standpipe system have that extra cool factor that everone looks for.
Interested to hear thoughts from the overflow experts!
Thanks,
Patrick
